Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief

I am always excited when a book a really enjoyed becames a movie. Rick Riodan's series was a favorite of mine and right now I am listening to the audiobooks in my computes to school. I love seeing them visually on the big screen.

Now I think everyone wants the movie to exactly like the book they fell in love with but that is basically impossible with only 2 hours so you have to go in expecting a good movie and still love the books but again I loved the movie but some things I wish were different.

-I really liked the actor who played Percy, Logan Lerman
-I did not picturing Grover busting a move in Las Vegas but I liked it.
-I liked that Percy and Anna Beth already have some chemistry.
-I loved the fiesty Persephone, wife of Hades played by Rosario Dawson

-The rule that said 'Gods and Goddess could not see their children', in the book it was because they were selfish and did not care.
-There was no mention of Chronos. This might not be a big deal if they do not make the rest of the movies.

Does anyone know if they are going to make more movies from the series?

Anita Blake 2010 Reading Challenge Book #5

Bloody Bones
Laurell K. Hamilton

Anita's most recent zombie raising job is for a company who wants to raise a cemetry. A company bought the land to build a multi-million escape for celebrities and now it is put on hault because the Bouvier family claims it is there ancestors buried there. Stirling is a bully who wants the land no matter what and Anita will not be bullied.

Magnus Bouvier owns a bar named Bloody Bones and also is Fey. Anita knows he is holding back information but when boys start dying she has to call in back up. A very sexy vampire who loves to be near Anita. They get into some serious vampire power struggles that are more dangerous than Jean-Claude could even imagine.

This is one of my favorite scenes with Jean-Claude drunk:
"You are drunk," I said. He nodded.
"I believe I am...I've drunk deep of two mortals, but neither of you are human." I didn't want to hear this.
"What the hell are you talking about?"
"Necromancer with a chaser of werewolf; a drink to make any vampire giddy." He giggled. Jean-Claude never giggles. I ignored him if you can ignore an intoxicated vampire...Larry walked over to us.
"Can we trust him?"
"We're going to have to," I said. "Help me stand up and let's get out of here before fangface busts a gut." Jean-Claude was doubled over with laughter. He seemed to think fangface was outrageously funny. Ye gods.

Pride Mates By Jennifer Ashley

Their bond is stronger than any magic....

This is the start of an amazing new paranormal series by Jennifer called Shifters Unbound. This book is set in Austin, Texas at a time where Shifters are feared by humans so they are forced to live in Shiftertowns and required to wear a collar to "tame" them. It is meant to control their hunting and fighting instincts. However, when Kim Fraser takes a case as a lawyer for a shifter charged with murdering his human girlfriend. Kim is thrown into a new world.

One of the perks to this world is a very hot Liam Morrissey who is no pussy cat. He immediately wants to protect Kim. He takes her into his world who has some interesting home of four single men with no women. Liam's dad, Dylan who is the Alpha of the pride. Sean is Liam's brother and also Guardian of the pride. And the adorable Connor who is a twenty year old boy who loves Irish Football and cars but is still a cub in the pride. He wears his heart on his sleeve. I love Liam's family.

Liam took his feet down and leaned forward, arms on the desk. "I haven't said I won't help you, lass." His gave flicked to her blouse, whose buttons had slipped out of their top holes during her journey through Austin traffic and July heat. "Is Brian happy with you defending him? You like Shifters that much?"

Kim resisted reaching down for the buttons. She could almost feel his fingers on them, undoing each one, and her heart beat faster.

"It's nothing to do with who I like. I was assigned to him, but I happen to think Brian's innocent. He shouldn't go down for something he didn't do." Kim liked her anger, because it covered up how edgy this man made her. "Besides, Brian's the only Shifter I've ever met, so I don't know whether I like them, do I?"

Liam smiled again. His eyes returned to normal, and how he looked like any other gorgeous, hard-bodied, blue-eyed Irishman, "You, love, are-"

"Fiesty. Yeah, I've heard that one. Also spitfire, little go-getter, and a host of other condescending terms. But let me tell you, Mr. Morrissey, I'm a damn good lawyer. Brian's not guilty, and I'm going to save his ass."

" I was going to say unusual. For a human."

"Because I'm willing to believe he's innocent?"

"Because you came here, to the outskirts of Shiftertown, to see me. Alone."

The predator was back.

Why was it when Brian looked at her like this, it didn't worry her? Brian was in jail, angry, accused of heinous crimes. A killer, according to the police. But Brian's stare didn't send shivers down her spine like Liam Morrissey's did.

"Any reason I shouldn't have come alone?" she asked, keeping her voice light. "I'm trying to prove that Shifters in general, and my client in particular, can't harm humans. I'd do a poor job of it I was afraid to come and talk to his friends."

Liam wanted to laugh at the little-spitfire-but he kept his stare cool. She had no idea what she was walking into; Fergus, the clan leader, expected Liam to make sure it stayed that way.

Damn it all, Liam wasn't supposed to like her. He'd expected the usual human woman, sticks-up-their-asses, all of them, but there was something different about Kim Fraser. It wasn't just that she was small and compact, while Shifter women were tall and willowy. He liked the way her dark eyes regarded him without fear, liked the riot of black curls that beckoned his fingers. She'd had the sense to leave her hair alone, not force it into some unnatural shape.

Next in this series will be Shifter Lovin' but no release date yet.

February Releases

Blood of a Demon
Diana Rowland
Released February 23, 2010

This is the sequel to Diana's debut novel Mark of the Demon.

The serial killer known as the Symbol Man has been dealt with, the demonic lord Rhyzkahi is no longer invading her dreams, and Detective Kara Gillian is doing her best to get her life back to normal after being kind of dread for a while.

Unfortunately, there's little about Kara's life that is ever normal or simple. As a skilled summoner of demons, she's hoping to use her arcane abilities to retrieve her aunt's essence and restore it to her body. But when Kara discovers that FBI Agent Ryan Kristoff is somehow known to the demonland--and not in a good way--old doubts surface and new problems emerge. Moreover, her investigations into the deaths of several seemingly unrelated victims reveal disturbing links to the arcane, with unseetling similarities to her own situation.

But matters get more complicated when she discovers other links between the victims, leading her into a morass of political corruption. And it doesn't help that Rhyzkahi has asked her to be his own summoner, a commitment that could have quite a few advantages and plenty of pitfalls. Politics--whether among humans or demons--is a dangerous game with very high stakes, and Kara is learning that lesson the heard way.
The Iron King
Julie Kagawa
Releases February 1, 2010

This is Julie's debut young adult novel and the start to her Iron Fey series. The cover is absolutely stunning. Also, on you tube is a video trailer. Very cool.

My name is Meghan Chase.

In less than twenty-hour hours I'll be sixteen. Countless stories, songs, and poems have been written about this wondeful age, when a girl finds true love and the stars shine for her and the handsome prince carries her off into the sunset.

I don't think it will be that way for me.

Rachel Caine
Released February 2, 2010

This is the sequel to Rachel's newest series Outcast Season. First was Undone and now Unknown.

My name is Cassiel, and I was once a Dijnn--a being as old as the Earth herself, rooted in her power. I cared little for the small , scurrying human creatures who busied themselves with their small lives.

Things have changed. Now I am a small, scurrying human creature. In form, at any rate. Thanks to a disagreement with Ashan, the leader of the True Dijnn. I can sustain my life through the charity of the Wardens--humans who control aspects of the powers that surround us, such as wind and fire. The Warden I'm partnered with, Luis Rocha, commands the powers of the living Earth.

I have made mistakes, in my short existence as a human. I have made promises I could not keep. I have lost those I learned to love.

I will not let it happen again.

Even if every instinct tells me I must.
