Lynsay Sands Reading Challenge

My Overstuffed Bookshelf is hosting a reading book challenge that includes the first 9 books of Lynsay Sand's Argeneau Family series. This series has been on my TBR list for a while now and I have heard nothing but great things from people who have read it so now is the time to pick them up. This challenge already started but it goes until Dec 30, 2010 so plenty of time.

1. This challenge is just for the first 9 books in the series. We aren't going to include the Hunter series. I might do that after this challenge.

Stephenie Meyer Upcoming Release

On Saturday June 5, 2o1o Stephenie Meyer is releasing An Eclipse Novella: The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner. Bree was a character in featured in Eclipse as one a the newly created Vampires meant to hunt and kill Bella and the Cullens.

Everyone loves to give back so here is your chance. One dollar for each book sold in the US from the first printing will be donated to the American Red Cross International Fund, which supports disaster relief efforts such as those in Haiti and Chile.

Yaya Buffy Reruns!!!!

I don't know if you are a fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer Series but I know its one of my all time favorites. Right now LOGO is running reruns at 6pm and 7pm on weekdays. I am loving seeing the scooby gang again kicking ass and taking names.

I really like the outfits the picked for the three of them. I really didn't like Edward in New Moon with his fancy jackets and stuff so I really like the down to earth causal dress.

June 30th cannot come soon enough.

"Shifter Made" by Jennifer Ashley

The Mammoth Book of Irish Romance has a novella by Jennifer Ashley that is apart of her Pride Mates series called "Shifter Made." It is a story of a blacksmith shifter named Niall back in Ireland in the 1400s who is asked/threatened by a Fae princess to make a sword. I really enjoyed this story. I also liked learning why the sword that Sean carries in Pride Mates is so important and where it came from. You can read this before or after reading Pride Mates but you should read it.

"Shifter Made" Novella

First Drop of Crimson by Jeaniene Frost

If you are a fan of Jeaniene Frost's Night Huntress Series with Cat and Bones then her new series Night Huntress World is just want you want to read. It takes some of the characters you met reading before and give them their own story. I would recommend reading all about Cat and Bones before you pick up First Drop of Crimson just so its more clear however I guess you could just pick it right up. This one is mainly about Spade, Bones's best friend and Denise, Cat's best friend. Also, Ian and Mencheres make an appearance. Ian has some very funny scenes.

Anita Blake 2010 Reading Challenge Book #7

I think out of all the books I have read so far this is my least favorite. Anita finally made the decision to be with Jean-Claude, the Master of the City and she just can't stick with that choice and be happy. Of course, Richard is angry at Anita but he has always been so kind and sweet and I did not like how cruel he was to her. Also, Anita did not help the situation by blurring the lines by making out with Richard. I wish she could just stick with one guy and stop hurting both of them.

I did like the story though. The council came to punish Jean-Claude and Anita for killing a member of the council and not taking his place on the council. Jean-Claude is happy as Master of his City and has no political aspirations to take the seat. He knows as the weakest member he would be challenged over and over. I agree with his decision but now he must convince the Council.


"So just tell me what you like on the menu, and we'll negotiate."
"All that is required is that you taste what is ordered. You do not have to eat it."
"No, no more of this tasting shit. I've gained weight. I never gain weight."
"You have gained four pounds, so I am told. Though I have searched diligently for this phantom four pounds and cannot find them. It brings your weight up to a grand total of one hundred and ten pounds, correct?"
"That's right."
"Oh, ma petite, you are growing gargantuan." I looked at him, and it was not a friendly look.
