July Book Releases
Here are a few books that come out this July that I can't wait for!!!
Eternal Kiss of Darkness
Jeaniene Frost
Releases July 27, 2010
This is the second book in the Night Huntress which deals the powerful, older-than-dirt Mencheres.
An immortal war has been brewing in the darkness…and now one woman has stumbled into the shadows. Chicago private investigator Kira Graceling should have just kept on walking. But her sense of duty refused to let her ignore the moans of pain coming from inside a warehouse just before dawn. Suddenly she finds herself in a world she’s only imagined in her worst nightmares.
At the center is Mencheres, a breathtaking Master Vampire who thought he’d seen it all. Then Kira appears—this fearless, beautiful…human who braved death to rescue him. Though he burns for her, keeping Kira in his world means risking her life, yet sending her away is unthinkable.
But with danger closing in, Mencheres must choose between the woman he craves, or embracing the darkest magic to defeat an enemy bent on his eternal destruction.
Wait for Dusk
Jocelynn Drake
Releases July 15, 2010
This is the fifth book in this amazing series.
There is no sanctuary in the night…

A tide of blood is sweeping relentlessly across the European continent, as Mira is dispatched to Budapest for the most devastating test yet of her astonishing powers—and falls into a well-laid trap. With the dark secrets that haunt her growing darker by the hour, she must confront the terrible truth of her past and protect her fragile sanity in the face of unanticipated treachery—a betrayal by her ally, her enemy, her lover…the vampire slayer, Danaus.
Twice Bitten
Chloe Neill
Releases July 6, 2010
This is the third book in the Chicagoland Vampires series. I can't wait to see what happens to Merit next.
Merit, Chicago’s newest vampire, is learning how to play well with others. Other supernaturals, that is. Shapeshifters from across the country are convening in the Windy City, and as a gesture of peace, Master Vampire Ethan Sullivan has offered their leader a very special bodyguard: Merit. Merit is supposed to protect the Alpha, Gabriel Keene—and to spy for the vamps while she’s at it. Oh, and luckily Ethan’s offering some steamy, one-on-one combat training sessions to help her prepare for the mission.
Merit must accept the assignment, even though she knows that she’ll probably regret it. And she’s not wrong. Someone is gunning for Gabriel Keene, and Merit soon finds herself in the line of fire. She’ll need all the help she can get to track down the would-be assassin, but everywhere she turns, there are rising tensions between supernaturals—not least between her and a certain green-eyed, centuries old master vampire.

Getting Ready for Eclipse!!!
So to get in the right state of mind for the movie release of Eclipse on Wednesday, June 30th, I decided it was perfect time to read Stephenie Meyer's newest release, Thee Short Second Life of Bree Tanner, an Eclipse novella. It was a very informative to know what was going on with the vamps in Seattle who are just pawns for Victoria to take revenge on the Cullens for the death of her mate.
Bree is a resourceful, little vamp that is trying to figure out her new life. In a house where there is always fighting between the vampires always killing each other so keeps her head down and out of trouble. One night out hunting she gets her first friend in her new life, Diego. He is an older vampire in the group who has some doubts about what they are being told by their leader Riley. Bree starts to think Diego has a point. I also enjoyed a 'talented' vamp Fred who tries to look out for Bree too.
With already knowing how the ending would happen with Bree's death by the Voltori I was still wishing it would not happen. Unlike when I read Eclipse I was really hoping the Voltori could have let the Cullens adopt her into their family. I really liked her.

Anita Blake 2010 Reading Challenge Book #8
Blue Moon
Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter #8
Laurell K. Hamilton
This installment of the Anita Blake series is where Anita grows up a little more for the good and bad. I really felt Anita's pain to met all the women Richard tried to replace her with even though she knew she had no right to be jealous because she was the one who choose Jean-Claude. However, everyone women understands emotions have no logical they are just what they are, completely irrational. Trying to save Richard puts Anita in his path one too many times to resist him especially with the spirit of the evil-bitch Raina trying to take her over at times.
Anita has some much power and leadership roles being Jean-Claude's human servant, Queen of the leopards, and Richard's mate of the werewolves but must learn to deal with it all. The leopards and werewolves are always touching and need the touch for comfort and healing but Anita cannot get pass the sexual touching. Another human in a pack tries to help her be better with them all. I think she needed this because her always being embarrassed was hurting the others who she is in charge of so she needed to step up to the plate and I feel by the end she hit a home run.
When she chose master vampire Jean- Claude over her ex-fiancĂ©, alpha werewolf Richard Zeeman, Anita learned that sometimes love is not enough. But though she and Richard won’t be walking down any aisles, she can’t turn her back on him when he’s arrested on a rape charge in Tennessee. Anita knows firsthand that Richard has the morals of a saint—or at least a boy scout. But his guilt or innocence is not the issue. He’s behind bars, and in five days a full moon will rise…
Favorite Quote:
I pushed him away from me. "I tortured a man, Jason. I reduced him to something that writhed on the floor, mewling with terror and pain. And I wanted to do it. I wanted to do it." I shook my head. "I'll do my bit tonight, but forgive me if it's a little harder to keep going than normal. Forgive me if I'm not superwoman, after all."
"Not superwoman?" he exclaimed, putting a hand on his chest in mock surprise. "You've lied to me all these years!" It made me smile, and I didn't want to smile.

Skin Tight (Skin #2)
Ava Gray
Releases June 1, 2010

He’s a natural born liar
The truth of him had long ago been buried. Foster was only one name of many; he’d been so many men, he’d lost count. Reinvented as Thomas Strong and hell-bent on revenge, his mission is about to be compromised by the one woman capable of exposing him…
Reunited, they confront the explosive chemistry still crackling between them. But their chance meeting will have consequences, for a ruthless madman has his own deadly agenda. The question is—if they survive the fallout, will he choose love over vengeance?
Black Dust Mambo (Hoodoo #1)
Adrian Phoenix
Releases June 29, 2010
This is Adrian's new series called Hoodoo.
"There will be times, girl, when all your magic ain't going to be enough, times when it will seem to dry up like mud under the noonday sun, or even make matters worse . . ."
Kallie Riviere, a fiery Cajun hoodoo apprentice with a talent for trouble, finds herself smack-dab in the middle of one of those times her mentor warned her about when she visits New Orleans to attend the Hecatean Alliance's annual carnival: her hard-bodied conjurer hookup ends up dead in her blood-drenched bed. And he was killed by something that Kallie would never dream of touching -- the darkest of dark juju, soul-eating juju -- a black dust hex that may have been meant to kill her.
Now Kallie has to use every bit of hoodoo knowledge and bayou-bred mojo she possesses to clear her own name and find the killer -- even as that dark sorcerer hunts Kallie and her friends. But Kallie's search for the truth soon leads her in a direction she never anticipated -- back home to Bayou Cypres Noir, and to Gabrielle LaRue, Kallie's aunt, protector, and hoodoo mentor . . . who is looking more and more like she just might be the one who wants Kallie dead.
