This is the first book in this new series, Draki. A series about Dragons that can shift into humans so they need to hide from their biggest enemy, Hunters. Jacinda is one of these Draki who takes a risk for a morning of flying and that’s where her life takes a turn for better or worse. Hunters come hunting but one, Will, lets her go. She does not know why but she is going to find out.
Her mother packs Jacinda and her twin sister up and sneaks them out of the Draki Community at night. Now, Jacinda must try to fit in as a human and keep her Draki alive. This is a battle Jacinda must face but when she ends up at the High School with Hunters it becomes more dangerous. Will is among them. This makes the story so interesting. Will and Jacinda’s relationship is intense and strong. I cannot wait for the next book to continue Jacinda’s adventure.
With her rare ability to breathe fire, Jacinda is special even among the draki—the descendants of dragons who can shift between human and dragon forms. But when Jacinda’s rebelliousness leads her family to flee into the human world, she struggles to adapt, even as her draki spirit fades. The one thing that revives it is Will, whose family hunts her kind. Jacinda can’t resist getting closer to him, even though she knows she’s risking not only her life but the draki’s most closely guarded secret.
