New News
-Unremembered Trilogy by Jessica Brody. These books haven’t even been released yet but the film rights have been sold to Doug Davison with screenwriter Whit Anderson.
“The new series, set a century in the future, follows a 16-year-old plane crash survivor who's trying to reclaim her identity with only one tidbit of information: she was supposedly the subject of a science experiment. Contardi said the trilogy is "a love story set against a sci-fi backdrop of time travel and gene manipulation." Book one in the series, Unremembered, is scheduled for 2012. Contardi also closed a film deal for the series, selling dramatic rights to producer Doug Davison with screenwriter Whit Anderson attached to the project. (The pair is currently working on the Warner Brothers feature reboot of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.) The stand-alone YA novel from Brody is scheduled for 2013.”

Reaper: Free eBook
Rachel Vincent has released a Soul Screamers ebook novella from Tod's point of view. Tod has been one of my favorite characters so I am excited for this one. BookonBoards is offering it 2 weeks earlier than everyone else so go check it out. It will be released on December 2, 2010 everywhere.
The story of how Tod died and was recruited as a reaper . . .
Tod Hudson was a typical teenager. He liked girls, sports, food and tolerated his younger brother, Nash. In fact, he had his whole life in front of him--and due to his bean sidhe heritage, it was going to be a very long life indeed. And then the car accident occurred.
Suddenly Tod's future wasn't so sure, and he had to make a choice. Life . . . Death . . . or something Between . . . .

Early Review: Seducing the Vampire
By Michelle Hauf
Releases January 2011
Source: Review copy provided by NetGalley for review.
This book was set both in 18th Century and 21st Century Paris, France. I really like how the story unraveled side by side in both times so you don’t know the complete back story as you learn what is going on in the present. In the old days it was believed female vampires needed a male vampire to patron them so they could get blood from them once in a while in order to live. They might have believe this or it was just another way to keep females under control. Viviane finds herself without a patron but Constantine is wooing her. Viviane feels no passion for Constantine but she does for a ‘not just right’ Rhys. She can’t figure him out but she wants him. However, he can’t patron him so there are so many delemias.
In present day, Rhys hears rumors of a woman sleeping in the under ground tunnels of Paris, so he must return to the city. All those years ago he thought she was gone forever, now to learn otherwise is driving him crazy. He must find out the truth. Michelle Hauf gives an interesting tale of first love, lost love, and hopefully reclaimed love.
He was mesmerizing, a vampire like none other...but the fire between Viviane LaMourette and Rhys Hawkes would begin a centuries-long clash between two powerful vampire brothers.
In Marie Antoinette's Paris, the beautiful vampire Viviane seeks a male patron who will allow her to live on her own terms. Courted by two feuding brothers, Viviane succumb to the handsome rebel, Rhys. She's unaware that Rhys has other, darker, motives. He seeks vengeance against his brother, Constantine—by stealing Viviane and tainting her with his blood.
But just as Rhys is realizing the depth of his love for Viviane, his brother take his revenge. By casting a spell on the woman they both desire, he condemns her to a living death inside a glass coffin.
Two centuries later, Rhys hears the urban legend of the Vampire Snow White, imprisoned deep in the tunnels under Paris. He must find her and set her free, but will he be able to save her from the evil still intent on destroying them?

This Side of the Grave (Night Huntress, #5)
By Jeaniene Frost
Releases February 22, 2011
Danger waits on both sides of the grave…
Half-vampire Cat Crawfield and her vampire husband Bones have fought for their lives, as well as for their relationship. But just when they’ve triumphed over the latest battle, Cat’s new and unexpected abilities threaten to upset a long-standing balance…
With the mysterious disappearance of vampires, rumors abound that a species war is brewing. A zealot is inciting tensions between the vampires and ghouls, and if these two powerful groups clash, innocent mortals could become collateral damage. Now Cat and Bones are forced to seek help from a dangerous “ally”—the ghoul queen of New Orleans herself. But the price of her assistance may prove more treacherous than even the threat of a supernatural war. …to say nothing of the repercussions Cat never imagined.

ARC Tour: Halo
By Alexandra Adornetto
Released August 31, 2010
Source: Review copy provided by Book It Forward ARC Tours for review.
This books was brilliant so it is hard to believe it came from one so young but very talented. The 18-year old author gives a fun, hard to put down book that is the first of a new trilogy. Three angels come down to a small town to fight the dark forces by doing random acts of kindness. It was things anyone can do but most of the time don’t for example working in a soup kitchen, visiting a nursing home, or donating to the good will store. I loved that Ivy would make scarfs to donate since they haven’t been Earth bound long enough to have old clothes.
She did a very nice job setting up a main core of characters. Gabriel is an Archangel but also acts like the protective older brother who is super hot. He gets a job as a music teacher at the local school so he has girls constantly drooling over him but he is so above trivial Ivy is the mother hen of the group. She is always doing small jobs around Venus Cove so people will start to help out too. Bethany is the youngest angel and the most human. It is her first time on Earth so she is overwhelmed by all the smells, sights, and touches. She becomes a student at the local high school and has a instant connection with the most popular boy, Xavier who is a sweetheart.
Bethany and Xavier’s relationship is fun loving but has some trouble when a bad boy transfers to the High School. Gabriel, Ivy, Bethany, and Xavier need to be careful with this one for he could be apart of the dark forces. Don’t mess with angels.
Nothing much happens in the sleepy town of Venus Cove. But everything changes when three angels are sent from heaven to protect the town against the gathering forces of darkness: Gabriel, the warrior; Ivy, the healer; and Bethany, a teenage girl who is the least experienced of the trio. They work hard to conceal their true identity and, most of all, their wings. But the mission is threatened when the youngest angel, Bethany, is sent to high school and falls in love with the handsome school captain, Xavier Woods. Will she defy the laws of Heaven by loving him? Things come to a head when the angels realize they are not the only supernatural power in Venus Cove. There′s a new kid in town and he′s charming, seductive and deadly. Worst of all, he′s after Beth.
Favorite Quote:
“I was so worried that you wouldn’t want to know me once you found out.” I signed, relief flooding through me.
“Are you kidding me?” Xavier reached out and curled a lock of my hair around his finger. “Surely I’ve got to be the luckiest guy in the world.”
“How do you figure that?”
“Isn’t it obvious? I’ve got my own little piece of Heaven right here.”

Julian Barlow was once a Viking. Then he watched his brother fall in battle, shouted his fury to the heavens and changed. He became the berserker of legend, a warrior who, in the heat of combat, transforms into a wolf.
Centuries later, he's settled into his own Alaskan village full of werewolves; he has a wife he adores. Until Alexandra Trevalyn, werewolf hunter, kills her. Dying is too easy for the woman who murdered his wife, so Julian devises a better way for Alex to suffer.
He'll make her just like him.
