Magic Burns By Ilona Andrews

I just started reading the Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrews. The story was alright but the characters were awesome. I loved the interaction between the characters and that is what made it a couldn't-put-it-down book.
Kate is a strong, determined character who is a mercenary for hire when magic goes out of whack. She is special because of her father and her blood, why that is we do not know but there are hints. I like a good mystery.

Curran, the arrogant, very muscular, you can call me lord, MASTER OF BEAST, is by far my favorite. He is the alpha of the Pack in Altanta because he is the strongest and no one messes with him. He has so much control and power over his beast, which happens to be the King of the Jungle Lion.

Derek, is a member of the Pack who ends up Blood bonded to Kate. Figures when she gets a Knight in shining armor its a teenage wolf. He is like any teenage boy. Acts first, thinks later and believes he can take on the world. Gotta love him.

When the magic is up, rogue mages cast their spells and monsters appear, while guns refuse to fire and cars fail to start. But then technology returns, and the magic recedes as unpredictable as it arose, leaving all kinds of paranormal problems in its wake.

Kate Daniels is the down-on-her-luck mercenary who makes her living cleaning up these magical problems. But when Kate's guardian is murdered, her quest for justice draws her into a power struggle between two strong factions within Atlanta's magic circles.

The Masters of the Dead, necromancers who can control vampires, and the Pack, a paramilitary clan of shapechangers, blame each other for a series of bizarre killings-and the death of Kate's guardian may be part of the same mystery. Pressured by both sides to find the killer. Kate realizes she's way out of her league-but she wouldn't have it any other way....

Kate Daniels Series:
1. Magic Bites
2. Magic Burns
3. Magic Strikes
4. "Magic Mourns" in Must Love Hellhounds
5. Magic Bleeds (Coming May 2010)
